Story
Behind the company name and brand ALATO® is a very personal and significant story that ties in with the founder's upbringing. The word Alato has since 1990 been used within the family as a declaration of affection, and the company ALATO Watches was established in 2023 outside Gothenburg, Sweden.
This is how it all began. Once upon a time, there was a little boy who was going to learn to say "I love you" in English.. but what came out of the boy's mouth was "a-la-to". The boy's parents picked up this made-up word and started using it when explaining to their son how much they loved him.
Today, Alato is the expression of our watchmaking passion, guided by the meaning in the name and realized in every detail we create.

We make watches with care for the process, the craft and the people who wear them. We work with watchmakers and partners who value longevity, not shortcuts. Precision is the point, but so is the feeling behind it.
Our designs are inspired by moments of engineering clarity. Instruments that changed how we see the world. We carry that legacy forward through reliable function, quiet form and the belief that great design never asks for attention. It earns it through its obviousness.

ALATO has its roots in a 35-year-old story. The company ALATO Watches was founded in early 2023, just outside Gothenburg, Sweden.
