Time+Tide x ALATO Ögonsten

Time+Tide writes about Ögonsten in Micro Monday

Time+Tide. One of the world's most respected publications in the watch industry. We ourselves have read, followed, and been inspired by Time+Tide for many years. So, to be mentioned in their magical 'Micro Monday' is a great honor for us.

They have now published a full review of Ögonsten. And perhaps the finest thing about the article is not the words themselves, but that they truly understood what we were trying to create.

Ögonsten is not just another dive watch or an aggressive sports model. It is an everyday watch with balance, presence and long-term design. A watch that should feel natural on the wrist.

“Compelling classical styling paired with everyday usability”

That was the headline. And it strikes very close to the core of the idea behind Ögonsten.

Time+Tide particularly highlighted:

  • the hybrid case shape
  • the interplay between brushed and polished surfaces
  • the proportions
  • the wearing comfort
  • the balance of the dial

This means a lot to us. Because that is exactly where almost all our time has been spent.

An everyday watch should be able to withstand use

In the article, they describe Ögonsten as a “daily wearer”. That was also the goal from the beginning, even though the main impression exudes a dress watch feel.

The details that make the difference

One of our favorite parts of the review was when they described the seconds sub-dial as:

“The star of the show.”

It's precisely these small details we love to work with. Tiny elements that don't scream for attention, but make the watch continue to feel interesting over time.

Time+Tide also noted how light plays across the dial, indices, and hands. Something that has been central to the entire design process. Ögonsten is very much about light, depth, and texture as it's inspired by the human eye.

A big thank you

Seeing Ögonsten photographed and reviewed by Time+Tide is a big moment for us as a small independent brand. We are still only at the beginning of our journey. But to get this kind of response from people who see hundreds of watches every year means more than we can describe.

Thank you to Vincent Deschamps and the team at Time+Tide for the thoughtful review. And thanks to all of you who follow the project, share it, and eagerly await the launch.

The Kickstarter campaign goes live on May 20th. We are very close now.
