ALATO intervjuad av Jonathan Kopp på Watchisthis

ALATO interviewed by Jonathan Kopp on Watchisthis

A story worth sharing.

We rarely take the time to talk about ourselves. Most of the time we are too deep into the details, adjusting lines, balancing proportions, looking for the designs that feels just right. But sometimes it's good to stop and reflect on why we do this.

Recently, Jonathan Kopp at Watchisthis got in touch. He was curious about ALATO and wanted to know more about the story behind it. So Pierre sat down with Jonathan and talked about childhood memories, the Reuleaux triangle, and why a watch is about more than just time.

It was an honest and straightforward interview about what drives us, how a layoff became the starting point for a dream, how an idea grew into an idiom, and how a mispronounced "I love you" became the name for everything we do.

If you're curious about what makes ALATO tick, beyond the works and materials – you can find the full interview here: Watchisthis

Here is an excerpt from the interview, which is in English:

Where does your inspiration regarding the design of your pieces come from?

Every watch starts with a story. As a civil engineer, I naturally draw inspiration from engineering and architectural history because those are fields I enjoy learning more about. When something inspires me, I instantly see the details of the watch in my mind.

Please read the entire interview, leave a comment if anything strikes your fancy, or share with someone who would appreciate the story. We love hearing from fellow enthusiasts, and we are grateful for everyone who is a part of this journey.

This is just the beginning.
